Gender Reassignment
Sammi, a 42-year-old secretary who lives in West London and has recently undergone gender reassignment surgery: ‘All my life, I knew that I was living in the wrong body. Having a penis felt strange and alien, and I just wanted to be rid of it. That said, it took me a long time to find the right sort of counselling and a GP who was sympathetic to my needs. I suppose they need to make sure that you are serious about gender reassignment and are aware of just what a long and serious process it is. Eventually, after much discussion, I was put on female hormones and began the process of living full-time as a wom¬an. At first, I was never convinced I could pass successfully, but as time went on and my body shape began to change, I began to feel more confident as Sammi.
‘I can’t describe how it felt to wake up after the actual reassignment operation and know that I now had a vagina instead of a penis. I don’t have the space to go into the whole process of how you dilate your vagina and get it to a stage where it can function almost like the real thing, but let’s just say that after several months I was very happy with it and was wondering whether one day I would be able to put it to use.
‘And then I met Jim at a T-girl night at the legendary Philbeach Hotel. There was an instant attraction, and I knew he was the one who was going to help me lose my virginity as a woman. (I’d actually lost my male virginity many, many years before in a drunken fumble, and that was one of the least edifying experiences of my life.) I will never forget how it felt to be undressed so reverently by him, and how special he made me feel as he kissed my body all over. When he finally wrapped his cock in a condom and ever so gently penetrated me, it felt so right, so marvellous that I actually burst into tears. In that moment, I became a woman, and I can never thank Jim enough for that’.
